As an architect, the results are very fulfilling especially if you see your projects bear fruit. A career in this industry actually requires a lot of hard work and you need to learn to meet people as well. An architect is one who designs the structure and it is something that comes with what you learn and a lot of experience.
Technical and People Skills required
To be a successful architect, you will need to have the technical drawing skills. Besides that, you need to be able to deal with people from all walks of life as you will be required to understand what your clients need before designing their structures.
If you intend to become an architect, you will need to obtain a first degree in architecture. A masters or PhD might not be necessary unless you intend to teach. After that, you will need to be a member of LAM (Lembaga Akitek Malaysia) in order to practice in this country.
In most cases, you will start with seeking a job with an architecture firm. That is where you learn the ropes and get to know people before venturing further. The starting salary is usually about RM2,500.00 per month but once you have the experience, your salary will increase very quickly.
