Common Misconception – You can only be a lawyer if you study law

Lawyers are not merely people who are good in speaking. In fact, they are supposed to be extremely intelligent people who are able to see things from different perspectives. If you are a law student, you need not be a lawyer as there are other opportunities abound.

Judges, Legal Advisers and Solicitors

The law sector has many opportunities as long as you are interested in these areas. As such, there are a lot of different income opportunities if you chart your career into this discipline.

Qualifications

Graduating with a first degree in law means that you have an opportunity to become a practicing lawyer. In order to do that, you will need to pass the CLP (Certificate of Legal Practice) in Malaysia. However, if you do not plan to sit for the CLP, you could still be a legal advisor or be involved in other legal matters of a company although having the certificate is a lot more beneficial.

Starting Salary

In most cases, you will start working with a law firm after graduating. This will give you a starting salary of RM2,000.00 to RM2,500.00 per month. If you excel in what you do, you will grow very quickly and your salary will increase accordingly.
